Sustainability, commercial woodwork vancouver, commercial millwork vancouver by EA Fisher Architectural Woodwork Ltd.

Production Processes - At each stage of the manufacturing process from our inventory system through to our maintenance program E A Fisher aims for environmental sustainability according to standards contained in the Forest Stewardship Council certification (FSC) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - LEED Canada Rating System. We design and manufacture for longevity, incorporating energy and resource efficiency, and using environmentally friendly materials that meet the life-cycle and aesthetic needs of our clients.

Starting November 2008, our one-year business plan calls for the implementation of a fully computer-driven sales and engineering system. We will be able to maximize our materials usage, track materials used in projects, and develop methods of cabinet construction that will allow wood re-use. We believe the future wood we harvest is in the cabinets we build today. This will be achieved with a radical new design process at the engineering stage that will be based on customer requirements, including expected length of use (typical commercial reinvestment cycle is 4-7 years), expected wear, and effect desired.

Our longer term 2-5 year goals include the construction of a state-of-the-art shop that will incorporate green technologies, such as co-generation of our own electricity through the use of our current waste stream, heating and cooling using geothermal and green roof technology, and more efficient equipment.
